What a research-corridor agenda needs covered

Programs at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines tend to pair a full slate of general session and breakout coverage with a poster hall or sponsor row that behaves like trade-show floor work scaled down to one ballroom instead of a full expo hall. A headshot station near registration keeps attendee portraits moving while the agenda runs, and the grounds give an outdoor reception real scenery instead of a parking lot view. Same-day selects go out when a program needs proof before the closing session ends, and the full color-graded gallery lands in 24 to 48 hours, licensed for your recruiting deck, your investor update and the corporate events gallery.

Live Delivery

Fully edited photos while the event is still running

Most photographers deliver in days. Live Delivery keeps your social team posting during the program. Frames stream from camera to editor in near real time, get fully edited, then land in a shared gallery on a typical ~60-minute delay from when they were shot, not days later, and not as rushed phone snaps.

You still get the full product: finished, full-resolution photography, a live editor on the stream, wireless transfer as I shoot, and a gallery built for teams posting while sessions, awards, and networking are still on the clock. Uncommon in event photography, and the teams who add it once ask for it by name the next time.

Why Encore

22 Years of Event Photography Experience

I'm Chris Terry, and for 22 years I've photographed conferences, galas, and corporate events for brands of every size. I know what you actually need out of the day: the speaker at the moment the room leans in, the handshake that means something, the unguarded laugh between sessions that a posed shot never catches.

I'm based in San Diego, a straight run up the 5 from Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. On site I keep a light footprint: no rearranging your run-of-show around my camera, no flash in anyone's face mid-conversation. From 40-person board dinners to keynotes with thousands in the seats, the approach holds. More than 1,100 events later, 98% of my clients book me again.

We are professional, clean and recently showered

We also dress like we were invited rather than subpoenaed. Three of those should go without saying. You have hired photographers before, so we say them out loud.

We are easy to work with

Last minute changes and timeline shifts are normal on any program with an agenda. A general session runs long, a breakout swaps rooms, someone decides over lunch that the leadership group photo should happen today. None of that is a problem. We roll with it.

Our pricing is fair and straightforward

No gimmicks, no random fees, no line item that shows up after the fact. The number in the quote is the number on the invoice unless you ask us to add something, and if you do, you see that price before we shoot it.

Local to Torrey Pines

The hotel sits at 10950 N Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla, alongside the Torrey Pines Golf Course and above Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, with 65,190 square feet of meeting and event space across 22 rooms and a 12,035-square-foot Grand Ballroom that seats around 1,370 theater style. For a planner, the draw is the address itself. UCSD, Scripps and the Salk Institute all sit a few minutes up the road, which is why so much of the property's calendar is biotech, medtech and academic. Same San Diego County rates, same 24-to-48-hour turnaround, no travel fee, whether the booking is here or at any other property on the San Diego conference venues page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you photograph corporate events at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines?

Yes, I have photographed programs at the property. The biotech, medtech and academic-adjacent bookings that fill La Jolla's meeting calendar tend to pair a full-day general session with an evening reception out on the grounds, so one photographer covers both halves without a handoff.

What does a program at this hotel cost to have photographed?

A research-corridor booking here doesn't change the rate card: $1,195 for a half day of up to 4 hours, $1,980 for a full day of up to 8, commercial license included. A staffed headshot station is $2,450 half day or $3,950 full day and moves 20 to 30 people an hour. Multi-day programs get one custom quote.

Is there a travel fee for a La Jolla booking?

No. La Jolla is still San Diego County, so published rates apply with no travel line on the invoice. I get up there by a straight run up the 5, and that drive doesn't change what you're billed.

How much meeting and event space does the hotel have?

65,190 square feet of meeting and event space across 22 rooms, a good share of it outdoor. The Grand Ballroom is the largest indoor space at 12,035 square feet, with theater capacity around 1,370.

Why do so many biotech and research programs book this property?

The address does the work. The hotel sits in the north coastal research corridor near UCSD, Scripps and the Salk Institute, so a life-science company can put visiting scientists up the road instead of flying them downtown. The audience at these programs tends to know exactly what a poster board or a data slide is supposed to say, so I frame for legibility first, not just composition.

Can you add Live Delivery or a headshot station to a Torrey Pines event?

Both, and research-corridor programs use them differently than downtown ones do. Live Delivery puts finished frames in a shared gallery on roughly a 60-minute delay, which is what a comms team wants when a funding announcement lands mid-agenda. The headshot station is a self-contained rig, backdrop and lighting and an operator, and it tends to fill up fast at a program where half the room needs a faculty page photo.

What vendor paperwork will the hotel ask for?

A certificate of insurance naming the hotel, sent before load-in. Programs run by a university or a research sponsor often add their own vendor form on top of the hotel's, which is worth asking your sponsor about early. I carry $2M liability and send the COI ahead of your date either way.
