Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina photographer

Conferences, galas and headshot stations at the hotel that shares a property line with the San Diego Convention Center, photographed by a local who has shot this building before.

Where the convention center keeps its ballroom

Plenty of shows treat the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina as an extra wing of the convention center. The two sit side by side, and the Marquis brings 1,366 rooms, around 280,000 square feet of event space, and the 35,631-square-foot Marriott Grand Ballroom, which seats 3,718 theater style. I have photographed corporate events here, so the practical map is already in my head: where registration bottlenecks, which foyer gets afternoon glare, and how long it really takes to move a shot from the ballroom to the marina lawn.

Coverage that follows the program

A Marquis event day rarely stays in one room. Keynote in the Grand Ballroom, breakouts upstairs, reception on the terrace, awards back inside. My conference coverage is built for that movement: $1,195 for a half day, $1,980 for a full day, with same-day selects when your social team needs them. Add a headshot station ($2,450 half day, $3,950 full day) near registration and attendees leave with a finished portrait, at 20-30 people per hour.

Questions, answered

Do you have experience shooting at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina?
Yes, I have photographed corporate events at the Marquis. Between its own conference bookings and the convention center overflow it absorbs, it is a regular stop for San Diego corporate work.
How big is the Marriott Grand Ballroom?
35,631 square feet, seating up to 3,718 theater style, one of the largest hotel ballrooms on the West Coast. The hotel carries roughly 280,000 square feet of total event space, so a general session, an expo and a dinner can all live under one roof.
Can one photographer cover our SDCC session and our Marquis evening event?
That is the natural booking. The Marquis sits immediately beside the convention center, about a tenth of a mile door to door, so moving between a hall session and a ballroom gala takes minutes, not a rideshare. One shot list, one editing style, one gallery.
What are your rates for Marriott Marquis events?
$1,195 for a half day of up to 4 hours, $1,980 for a full day of up to 8, commercial license included. A staffed headshot station is $2,450 half day or $3,950 full day, running 20-30 people per hour. Multi-day programs get a custom quote.
What about outdoor spaces at the hotel?
The marina side is the draw: lawn and terrace events with sailboat masts in the background and some of the best golden-hour light downtown. It photographs like a resort that happens to be attached to a convention hotel.
