Why planners still book The Del for business

The Hotel del Coronado is the postcard, and that is exactly why corporate groups use it. Roughly 96,000+ square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, ballrooms in the low- to mid-teens of thousands of square feet, lawns, and private beach give a brand retreat or leadership offsite the kind of backdrop no Gaslamp ballroom can fake. It is still a working conference hotel: registration, general session, breakouts, then dinner with the Pacific behind it.

What the camera has to handle

Hard beach light, Victorian exterior detail, then dimmer ballroom and foyer work. The program usually hops all three. My conference coverage runs $1,195 half day and $1,980 full day with commercial licensing, same-day selects when needed, and a 48-hour gallery. A headshot station ($2,450 / $3,950) near registration keeps attendee portraits moving at 20-30 an hour. Compare Coronado with downtown and Chula Vista options on the conference venues page, including the Gaylord Pacific and the InterContinental San Diego.

Questions, answered

Do you photograph corporate events at the Hotel del Coronado?
Yes. Coronado and bayfront resort programs are part of my San Diego corporate work: meetings, brand retreats, beachfront receptions and headshot stations at The Del and nearby properties.
How much event space does Hotel del Coronado have?
On the order of 96,000 to 97,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, with large ballroom options around 12,600 to 15,130 square feet, lawn venues, and private beach space for outdoor programs. Sources list slightly different totals depending on whether beach and lawn are included.
Is Coronado a travel fee from downtown San Diego?
No. The Del is still local San Diego County. Published rates apply with no travel surcharge: $1,195 half day, $1,980 full day for event coverage, and the same headshot station pricing as downtown.
What is different about photographing The Del versus a downtown ballroom hotel?
Outdoor light. Beach, lawn and Victorian exterior become part of the shot list, not just decoration. Indoor ballrooms still need clean exposure and sponsor-safe framing, but the day usually moves between controlled rooms and bright coastal exteriors.
What do you charge for Hotel del Coronado photography?
$1,195 for a half day up to 4 hours, $1,980 for a full day up to 8, commercial license included. A staffed headshot station is $2,450 half day or $3,950 full day at 20-30 people per hour.
